I called in to Alconbury lorry park for the first time in ten years … jeez it has gone down hill , £ 18.00 a night , no meal voucher … BP … please come back , i have a theory that all its about now is raking in the cash for parking up , everywhere i looked i saw signs of a lack of investment , apart from the cafe , that is just disappointing … are the rest of the truckstops previously owned by BP as depressing ■■? .
Its now owned by Maritime Transport…
Looks like it will be shut soon as Maritime have applied for O licence for 70 units and 100+ trailers, so another secure overnight parking site is closing and where are we meant to go instead?
Maritime will still offer overnights and will improve what was a really grotty place.
After discussions with the new Manager, Maritime are to spend thousands on the place and are awaiting planning permission to go ahead.
Cleaning the showers would be a start.
Don’t need planning permission for that
the men who sleep in trucks used to sleep in alconbury, that’s why they are so happy,
