Happy New Year!

That must be the first factory built Albion sleeper cab to be seen!!!

David

I think you’ll find that’s a crew cab, it’s got rear doors. Harrods had some similar cabs on their Albion removal vans for the crew, although some of their older vans had a standard depth cab with one bench seat right across seating five crew including one on the right of the driver! I know the big ice cream makers used to use some smaller vans with crew seats for taking ice-cream sellers to big functions, county shows and the like, then loading up their tricycles and stalls with the ice cream from the back for them to flog. That Albion’s a mystery though, you’d need some bluddy good salesmen to sell that lot! By the way, if anyone has any pictures of Harrods vans/lorries, particularly the Albions I’d be pleased to see them, my late brother drove for them for a while in the '50s, I was a nipper then and used to ride shotgun with him. Happy new year to all.

It also looks like a wheel change is required on the second front axle. :frowning:

Thanks Larry & Bumper, happy new year.

Had to do a double take on the number.

I would guess it would be 1953 reg.

In (I think) 1952, Dad bought a new black Morris Oxford - the one that looked like an inflated Morris Minor - and the reg was MTJ 285. I was four.

I’d have to go outside to tell you the reg number of our current car mind you!

John.

Another couple of CX7’s

This Albion with revamped cab once belonged to a Pete Smith (is that you Pete?) dumped in a yard in Thurleigh Bedfordshire. Thought pictures would be interesting seeing as the pics earlier on the Albion topic are also Miller’s motors. I’ve added any pics I have of Albions dumped I’ve seen on my travels.

You are correct Lawrence , most of it is now exported to the USA where it is a big seller , you gents from the North East have now gone up-market and are enjoying something a bit more expensive .
