Aircraft Refueller Menzies Heathrow

Menzies aviation at Heathrow has offered me a aircraft refueller job. They are paying £34,000 for a 38 hour week. However I’m the The first on this low salary everyone else there is on £40,000.

Doesn’t seem fair to me, what do you guys think should do

refueller jobs are usually busy in summer and quiet afterwards, you could find yourself being paid off after summer , £34k for 38 hours a week seems ok to me , other blokes have mibby been there for years and on a different contract. think that the 'OLD HANDS ’ have been there for years , but they bring in extra staff to cover the busy period.

Personally I’d not take a job knowing that someone else is doing exactly the same (probably the easy runs as well) & getting paid more.

So you would sit at home unemployed?
Or you would get a better paid job elsewhere?
Or you would get a worse paid job elsewhere, but be on more than everyone else at the same place?

Why does it matter what anyone else gets?

Comparing like with like?

Same hours same shift pattern etc?

They’re about to be bought out, whether or not that’s got anything to do with it.

It isn’t unusual for other people to be on older contracts on different wages for the same job sadly.

And tbh 34k for a basic 38 hour week doesn’t seem like a bad amount. Depends on what you want from a job.

Assuming it’s weekly pay that is £17.20 an hour.

To me it matters a lot to be treated equally with my fellow work colleagues.

Wages are only 1 small part that i consider when taking on a new job.

So to answer your question, yes i would sit at home unemployed & i can do that because i don’t live pay check to pay check like most people.

I’m 40 years old paid my mortgage off some years ago don’t have finance on any fancy car or anything so don’t need to work for companies that don’t treat people fairly…
