Airbag pressure

Hi all does anybody know the airbag pressure required in the airbag on axle 1 ( only axle on front half) of a dennison splitter trailer 2005 please see attached photo of trailer for reference

thanks

Next to the manufacturer’s plate on the side of the chassis should be another information plate from Wabco, Haldex, Grau or even just the manufacturer. On this should be the information you require. If the trailer has an ‘information centre’ data can be accessed from it - follow the on screen instructions.

Hi Charlie, I presume there is no information on either the manufacturers plate or a data plate supplied by the brake manufacturer? What is the max weight for the axle from the ministry plate?

Hi no data on the plate regarding airbag pressure sorry i wasnt very clear it is the lift axle bags that i require the information on presssure and from recollection it is a 9tonne axle

Airbag pressure depends on the load. This in turn controls brake pressure to stop lock up.
The suspension hand valve over rides the ride height control valve to raise or lower the bed.

Unladen it will have about 20psi in them ,laden about 100psi.

Most modern trailers have an ABS solenoid on the suspension hand valve which kicks out the handle when the trailer moves to protect the bags and the dampers. The brake tank is isolated from the suspension tank so that if a bag bursts the spring brakes dont lock on.The brake tank has to reach about 9 bar before it starts to supply air to the suspension circuit.

He’s talking about the bag to lift the axle, by the sound of it.

What makes you think the pressure isn’t right?
Is their a test point you can get a reading from?

It may just give full tank pressure up to a bump stop.
