air duster gun

i saw them for sale at stracathro the other day. i have had one for a few years but i have never even taken it to work. what are they for and where do they plug in? looked like the same attachment as a tyre valve but i dont think that is the best place to get air from since you are probably going to need air in your tyres

in some trucks, there is a tyre valve type atatchment inside the cab, on Scanias, it is behind a small cover on the lower dash panel, somewhere round the bottom tray.

the type with the tyre valve cannot be used on all trucks, DAF for example, is fixed in place with a T piece, best taken from seat air supply

as for use, well, they are used for blowing the dust and dirt out of the cab

Volvo it is behind the drivers seat if i remember correctly

They are used for blowing dust off the dash…yeah I know, it just blows the dust around the cab

Sometimes there is a car valve thingy somewhere in the dash, on FL10 I remember it was near the handbrake, seem to remember it was used for inflating tyres with a airline that was in the toolkit (Or had to be bought seperatly) Some trucks must have the valves in the roof lockers as I see some with the curly wurly bit hanging from the roof…

To my mind the things are a waste of money, as duster and polish does a better job, but I guess they can be useful for blowing stuff out of the nooks and crannies…

and on the out side of the merc on the air tank there is a dust cover have you it for an air lead to check my tyre pressures

there good if you want a froffy coffee

i thought they would have had another use. sounds like a lot of hassle to replace a 99p brush. it can stay in the attic!

i find it better at certain things than a hand brush

for instance, i blow the crap out of my floor mats, it does it better than brushing them

i’ve got one but can’t find where to fit it anyone know where it would go in a 52 plate actros 2543? my missus got me it when i had a scania but i left and never used it wouldn’t mind it with all the dust from the wheat and that.

if it has got the tyre valve type, i don’t think it will fit in an Actros, you will need the type with the T Piece and take a tap off the seat air supply

Ido a lot of bulk grain work and they are very useful for blowing the dust of your clothes before you get back in cab.

Also if you use them for dusting of the dash etc. it works better on a windy day with both doors wide open. make sure all your delivery notes and paperwork is stashed away though. I know this from experiance

The schrader valve inside the cab is normally used to refill your airtanks not for these airguns.

If you want to move the dust around your cab, use a quickfit T coupling like this and just cut into the seat suspension for a feed.

Most airguns come with them or sometimes they have a double ended schrader valve so you can use the supplied airline from the airtanks

there is a tyre valve type attchment inside the cab, on Scanias
so wrote shuttlespanker
who told you that than

 they are handy if youre a smoker,(other filthy self satisfying habits are available)(but i like ciggy) :unamused: ,or when i was on cattle food it was good for dusting me and the cab,you can use a T piece but i prefer the scania method use a valve extension and you can just leave the airline on all the time,

i,m not very bright but i can lift heavy weights :open_mouth:
