Air cooled diesel engines

Apart from Magirus Deutz, did anybody else use them ? also why did they never really catch on and ( stupid question i know) how did the cab heater work :confused:

Cab heater worked from the heat of the engine oil, piped through a radiator/matrix similar to a normal system.

Indeed, and their swing-axle independent suspension.

Did Tatra dump motors not have a handbrake on the prop shaft , made them rock when loading from machine

Out of some brochures herewith detail-pictures. In Holland Tatra was very popular with dumpers for
the many quarries and excavating.

I seem to remember that either Lincolnshire Road Car or Lincoln City Transport tried an air-cooled Ruston diesel in a bus many years ago, correct me if Iā€™m wrong.

A Lincoln Corporation Guy Arab III, DFE 383 was fitted with a Ruston & Hornsby air cooled engine. This vehicle survives.
