anyone know the score on if its has to be paid ■■
If you are on an agency then it is extremely unlikely you will be paid for a bank holiday unless you are working it… … … If you have been with them for long enough to acrue holidays then you could always ask to take the day as holiday…
G
IMO I understand its paid at sunday rate
thats IF your lucky enough to get agy work on a bank hol !!
you either take it as a holiday IF you pre book it or you get double time if you get work. thats how it normally worked in southampton anyway. agencies do vary though
I know its law that every company who employs you, must pay you for the bank holiday…so the way i see it is…if the agency pay your tax and insurance…you are then employed by them…and they will have to pay you…
The way i work is …i dont work bank holidays…if i did …and when i did years ago…the rule is/was double time and a day in lieu…
Lesson her chaps is if you work for an agency then you will have signed a TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT form, this means for the assignments that you are sent on you will be paid at the agreed rate with that agency, you ONLY acrue holiday pay on the work that you do, and on the NORMAL hour as hol pay is NOT accrued on overtime…
So to answer the question do agency people get paid for Bank Holidays, the correct answer is …ONLY IF YOU WORK THEM - or if you book a days holiday…!!
There are agencies(Manpower/Pertemps ) that actually employ their temps full time, so they may pay bank holidays BUT as with all these big companies READ THE SMALL PRINT

Not true truckyboy. There is no legal right to paid leave on bank holidays, just as there is no legal right to extra pay for working those days unless it is specified in the contract or terms of employment.
cheers fellas,
my agency said i had to use a days acrued hol pay if i wanted it so was just checking. someone at work said that if you worked the normal working day either side of the holiday you had to be paid for the holiday day as well but i said i thought it was only if you are full time employed - i can remember few years back throwin a sicky on the tuesday after and losing the hol pay
job im on at minute does pay dubble bub on bank hols if u work but i have done other bank hols thru same agency for normal time for other firms
thanks again
Double bubble for me on Bank Holidays, unless it’s Christmas time when I get treble time.

WRONG. There is no legal entitlement to paid bank holidays off. Some companies choose to pay it, many don’t. Some that do take it out of your annual holiday entitlement.

They’re wrong.
Im on 150% I think this is the 4th one coming up next week, The advantage of the Dutch system is you also get paid when it is a holiday in Holland
