After your days driving time

SteveBarnsleytrucker:
once you do that then it would become a regular occurrence. Give them a yard and they’ll take a mile some companys  If you have to be back then I would be questioning the planners in the office as obviously they are not planning the driver work to keep him within the legal requirements.

Arent you so bloody right on that one!

I was referring to getting held up through a breakdown or traffic delay and running out half hour or so away. If I’d not got stuff for a night out with me then I wouldn’t be getting my Mrs to come and pick me up if the wagon was going straight back to where my car was parked. Yes I can see why you’d not do it if it was bad planning or potentially a regular event but if it happened to me I’d take the passenger seat.

What about if the company sends another driver in a company van that you could then drive home as opposed to the yard in? I’d do that too

This seems to have gone a bit off topic, the OP had run out of driving time, he never mentioned running out of working time.

If he’s got enough working time left, there’s nothing to stop him driving a vehicle that doesn’t come in-scope of EU or domestic regulations.

I always get recovered, they’ve no option as they need the truck for the nightshift
