I just cant begin to imagine going to Dover never mind the Middle East in something that was designed to trundle at low speeds around the A roads of Britain. These men were made of something special ,are there any pictures of his trips John ?, Bills put plenty on of his trips into Europe with the Wyatts AECs .Setting off to work this morning at 4.15 and getting into a pre warmed cab (i left the night heater on overnight) as the snow came down seems like cheating now
hiya ramone…you must buy truckerask’s book LONG HAUL PIONEERS…£18 from amazon it tells how asian transport(astran)
come to do the M/e work. the first trip was in a guy warrior with a 180 ■■■■■■■ then a special chassed AEC mm8 cut down
to a mm6 pulling a 20ft drag. the book is a must, no crap, a really good read. i don’t read usually, a sat all christmas
(last year) reading the book… go for it mate. if you go to AEC 100 this year you can have a drive of my MM6 you’ll die
at the level of comfort

Hiya it was a good find LB76 the front panel round the headlights spot on…have you welded the bottom of the front panel…
How bad was the front panel please…have you a photo…all the front on my rts cab is glass fibre but needs some strenght
as it flaps about as theres nothing to fasten to below the floor level.
John
All it needed when you picked it up was a m.o.t and tax and by the look of it ,it could have gone back to work ,i`ve seen the finished article and what an excellent job you made of it and what a solid motor it was in the first place
I only did a limited amount of the work, the stuff that was out of my remit was subbed out, know your limitations! i was more a “Project Director”!
Hiya…searching around the net i found this mk5. the photo belongs to Bison2. i thought it should be on the aec site
