Nice to see how empty the roads are.
For all the issues the truckers of the 50s-80s had… at least the roads were never too busy and they did not have to deal with constant gps tracking and having to have a phone on them at all times.
Would you have heard a phone ring?
A trick with these was to start the truck, then turn off the ignition. Truck drove ok but no electrics including the Speedo/mileage, If you wanted to get somewhere.

As opposed to the finer points of finding parking and a phone box that wasn’t out of order and having a pocket full of change to feed it.
There was also the black art of telex messages for the long haul elite.
The brake test seems to have been old school ( to me ) chalk gun and tape measure rather than the ‘later’ tapley meter.
