As I understand it, post WW2 AEC introduced a modified 7.7 which had gear drive timing rather than the previous chain. Does anyone have any information or pictures about these engines please?
There were several versions of the acclaimed 7.7 litre engine from its inception in the early 1930s until it was superceded in 1953. The versions included indirect (Mark 1 and Mark 3 Ricardo) and direct fuel injection. I cannot help with literature because I disposed of all my material 4 years ago when i had a clear out.
At the weekend, I had the privilege of riding as a passenger on a 1945 Bristol double-decker with this engine installed (AEC 7.7). The noise was pure music. And it powered a fully-loaded bus uphill and down-dale with no trouble at all. Robert

I was sorry to see this K6A go when Ensign sold it about 18 months ago. I really enjoyed driving it, even if the cab was designed for someone of about 5 foot nothing. Even with a full load on it could be made to go well if ‘rowed along’ . Like all 7.7s it was a noisy beast in the cab and set my tinnitus off for the rest of the day and night.
