Hi everyone,
I am new to this sort of thing so here go’s,i am looking to relocate to canada and was wondering if anyone could direct me to a good firm taking on UK drivers also do they pay for flight and canadian driving test, any help would be appreciated…thanks

Easy, google “canadian trucking companies employing uk drivers”.Don’t use an immigration service/lawyer,waste of money.

I guess the reason that you have had no feedback to your question is because in all honesty it is unlikely that anyone is going to recommend any of the companies that are actively recruiting drivers from abroad at this time.
To put it another way, good companies don’t need to recruit from halfway round the world to get people to work for them.
I appreciate that you do not want to hear that but I guess it stands to reason.
If you have a few years experience of long distance driving and a clean record and are really keen to emigrate to Canada maybe you would want to try H&R in Alberta but I am sure no one on here would want to actually recommend them to you. I can’t say because don’t know anything about them except what I have read on here but from what I can gather there are some companies out in the Eastern provinces that really are shockingly bad places to work.

Or try Loblaws  Just make sure you rent everything, not buy & get a return ticket, three months should be long enough :open_mouth:

LOL,3 months would be far too long, unless you really are fond of curry !

Thanks wire for the positive reply…the rest was a bit of a wast of time…thanks

As a further thought you might possibly get interest from decent companies if you could get over to visit Canada with all your past work history, etc in writing and were prepared to pay for the driving tests yourself.
Obviously you would need a good few grand behind you to get started and I don’t know if that would be possible for you bearing in mind you still would have no guarantee of success.

Happy to point you in the right direction matey, have you not grasped google yet? I tried before I posted my reply, hey presto immediate answers.Must be akin to literacy for you,too much effort required!

Just a thought for you, since they have been mentioned already. H&R also have positions in Winnipeg which would remove the AINP issue.

And I’m sure one of the Brit drivers would be prepared to help out with accommodation and advice in person.

Take a look on the Canadian Embassy website upandatem, have a look at whats involved & then if you fit the bill start looking at likely candidates to employ you over in Canada, you can download all the forms etc fill the bits in you can & if you have done your homework & know how it works when you approach a future employer He will know you know your stuff & are serious.

My advice is get a criminality search done, get some references, some old passports helped Me too, & get on a flight to wherever you fancy & go & knock on some doors & talk to some Canadian hauliers, they won’t bite. It worked for Me in 2006 I did this & came back with a job. Sitting on a PC is all well & good but having a visit & a face to face with them shows you mean business.

Good Luck

Thanks again for all the postive replies…crim…check clear …references good …driving 20+years…clean licence …

If you can afford it I`d go with fly sheets idea of getting yourself over for a look around & some door knocking.

Best of luck and keep us posted

if all else fail H&R come over to the Ulk to do interviews about twice a year. Have been asked if I can make it out there in June lol you can expect to pay for the te take of class 1 yourself thats about $1500

No trucking company on this side of the Atlantic is gonna pay antones air fare to hire a driver.

Except any that employ you on an LMO…Return airfare is part of the deal, so is a guaranteed $2500 for the first two months and $3500 guaranteed for the next twenty months

also with H&R they will send you the ticket. Some say buy the ticket and we will refund it

I’ve been out here in the Maritimes for 10 years now , my ten cents worth is keep away from this side of the country. Pay is low you are treated like a second class citizen for most part. If there is no work you sit at home earning nothing but are expected to be ready to go at a seconds notice. Average hourly pay if you do local work is arond $15 ph. This place has a unknown knack of sucking every spare penny you have put away for a rainy day (lowest paid highest taxed ) nothing cheap about it at all. DO loads of research believe half of what you read and and disbelieve 75% of what you are told by employers. I might sound bitter and twisted but I know from experience and the other ex pats here that it is not a place of milk and honey. Keep in mind that IF the company is any good it will have canadian drivers lined up at the door waiting for a job and they will not have to go hunting around the world for drivers.
Out of desparation thinking I could do better I went out and bought my own truck not a good idea, worse off than a company driver so don’t get caught in that game.
Just in case anyone’s thinking well if you have no knowledge of running a truck… I did it for 5 years in the good old UK and it was never as hard there as it is here.
I would agree with the post that said don’t buy and rent everything that way you can pack up and go home when you have had a gut full. Also don’t sale anything back home until you are totally sure that you want to make it for ever
