Hi guys probably a daft question but I started working for an agency last Monday hides
I worked Monday to Saturday rest day Sunday then Monday to Friday this week.
Now I was of the understanding I could do 6 then 5 and had to have my 45 hours off but the agency are asking me to work Saturday also and have Sunday Monday off.
Advice / guidance greatly appreciated
You must start a new weekly rest period no later than 144 hours from the time you started on Monday.
As long as you do that you can work Saturday and have Sunday and Monday off.
Be sure to get holiday rates for tomorrow though, Bank holidays are usually Sunday rate or more on agency
By the way, the regulations say you must have a regular 45 hour weekly rest period at-least every second week, they say nothing about working six days then five days.
The regs deliberately do not use the term DAYS but instead use HOURS so as not to confuse
Max 144 hours between weekly rests
Each fixed week must have a weekly rest in it and used for it
If a weekly rest is at least 1 minute in a fixed week it can be used for it
A weekly rest can only be used once
A fixed week may have many weekly rests in it but only one needs to be used for that fixed week and any unused ones do not need compensating
At least every other fixed week must a regular 45 used for it
Every fixed week must have at least a 24 used for it - a 45 covers that
hope that helps a bit
Thanks guys. So I started at 0315 Monday so I must start my weekly rest before 0315 Sunday morning?
If I work Saturday it will be doing them a favour so no silly long days for me [emoji3]
As for tomorrow it’s my Sunday rate so £15 an hour.
I still have a lot to learn and get my head around.
Thanks again for the replies

Yes you must start a weekly rest period no later than 03:15 Sunday.
nothing wrong with agency fella Hold that head up high you’ll get a very wide insight to more vehicles and types of loads and trailers that Mr I Onlywannadothis wont. It’ll take time and then you’ll find the job that suits you and you’ll stick at it till you lose interest and need a change…
Crack on

I’ve been in the transport game a while but public transport and was doing mega hours for little reward. Never had to watch my hours before now though tacho wise.
Agency was an easy way in to get some valuable experience on class 1 and to be fair they have been really good with decent rates as well as expenses and holiday pay I can accrue.
Best part is I did over 10 hours less last week than my old job and blew my old wage out of the water.
Lots of silly o’clock get ups but nice mid morning to early afternoon finishes.
There’s guys at the agency I’m with that have been there 15+ years so it has to say something for them
