Hi all, I was hoping someone would be kind enough to give me some advice on reduced daily rest.
I am not sure if the below would count as 3 reduced or 2.
talknonsense:
On starting work on Wednesday morning it will count as 2. Reducing between Wednesday into Thursdays shift would be number 3.

Thank you. So really they can give me a duty over 13 hours on wed then… mmh oh crap lol
In theory they can, yes. However there is nothing stopping you from raising the issue of fatigue, or simply adding up your working hours with the rest of the week in mind and making a case for them backing off a bit.

wed if I start at 08:45 will this count as 2 reduced or 3.
As I only had 10 hours between finishing on Tues and starting on Wed.
Thanks
mon 0700 to tue 0700 = 9.5 hrs rest so reduced x1
tue 0700 to tue 0930 = 2.5 hrs rest that counts for nothing
tue 0930 to wed 0930 = 10.45 hrs rest so reduced x2 and if starting at 0845 wed that reduces the 10.45 to 10 hrs rest so still reduced x2
wed 0845 to thu 0845 = how much rest in that 24 hour period ■■? = unknown yet but could be reduced x3 if the total rest in that 24 hours is less than 11 hrs

ROG is exactly right that bringing forward the start time on the Wednesday reduces the rest.
Thinking purely in terms of 13 / 15 hour shifts can cause problems if the start times are variable.
If say you did a 14.5 hour shift and then started an hour earlier the next day that would lead to actually having less than 9 hours rest in the 24 hour period.
