Good morning All.
Spent a lot of money with Qualitas (Nuff said),Now I want to undertake ADR Training, have been Speaking to a couple of companies, Wales and South West Training (Newport), and Friendberry (Taunton).
Have any of you dealt with either? , would you reccomend ? Iām based in Swindon Wiltshre ( someone has to live here) and of course just how difficult/easy is it to obtain ADR Ticket, is 4 1/2 sufficient time for 7classes Packages + Tanks , would welcome your feedback thanks

Forum with some useful stuff and Forum for questions on drivers hours
I spent some money with qualitas too. Did they send you to Frank at PDL? Iād like to do ADR too, as it seems that a company round here is recruiting cat. c drivers with ADR certificates, and it would be especially useful if it would contribute to periodic CPC training hours. Plus thereās every chance itād beat driving a skip.
Yep,dear old Frank, yep there seems to be lots of "Skip work " around here, but little else unless you have ADR, Iāve been quoted Ā£400.00 for 7 +Tanks but no CPC. or Ā£669.00 all in including 4 night B+B, keen not waste anymore money than I have to

Yes it woud be worth paying that little bit more for that as the core modules (not tanks) are worth 21 hours of driver cpc if the course is JAUPT approved

Whilst the ADR providers youāve mentioned are perfectly OK, you did ask for others.

Itās worth mentioning that the tanker module isnāt compulsory and that my advice about it is that you shouldnāt pay out for it unless you honestly think that youāll need it. The tanker module attracts NO periodic driver CPC hours. If, in the future, you need to be able to drive a tanker, the tanker module can be added at any time during the validity of your ADR certificate.
Also worth a mention is that the length/duration of an ADR course is set by the exam body (SQA) who administer the ADR course on behalf of the DfT, so the course duration isnāt something that you can compare between the providers. I also advise that you should get a quote before you commit yourself to joining a course and that you should ask all providers the same questions so that you can do an honest like-for-like comparison to enable you to come to an informed decision. It may be that itās cheaper to go to a provider that is actually further than another, so please be careful that you get all the info you need.
Iād advise you to ask the following:
- Does the price youāve quoted include V.A.T?
- Does the price youāve quoted include ADR exam fees?
- Does the price youāve quoted include any course textbooks?
- What are the arrangements for tea breaks/meals?
- (If you want CPC hours) Are you a DSA/JAUPT approved driver CPC provider?
- (If you want CPC hours) Does the price youāve quoted include (or what is) the driver CPC fee?
- (If you want CPC hours) Does the price youāve quoted include (or what is) driver CPC upload fee?
I hope that helps, but Iāll be here if you get stuck with anything on your course.
Good luck!!
Hi guys,
Plumbed for . Wales and South west Training, 7 Classes Tanks + Packages + 21 Hours CPC . for a total of Ā£466.00 (they are prepared to negotiate/haggle a little )Inclusive of VAT and exams and CPC registration feeās, four and a half days course which could have been done in 3-3 1/2 days, however instructors and staff very helpful and provide training materials (some of which have to be returned) ā¦or charged at Ā£25.00, needless to say all were returned, Course venue was āDewstone Golf Clubā just outside Cheptow, Bar food available at lunchtime, but quite pricey, (take a packed lunch or chippy about 2 miles away) Tea/Coffee only served AM/PM breaks.
Be prepared for 6 week wait for SQA+DVLA to process results and issue certificate. One other thing that impressed me, was that they did not āDemandā a deposit. Hope this helps anyone else considering ADR
