It might help if we knew what instructions you’re talking about, otherwise we’re just going to be making wild guesses

I’m guessing here , but I think you might mean ADR’s Instructions In Writing? (aka IIW)
If yes, ADR’s IIW must come as four pages and must be in colour.
The pages can be double side printed so that you end up with two pages printed on both sides, but there MUST be four sides.
The IIW dated 2011 are acceptable up until 30 June 2017, but there is a new version that come into force on 01/01/2015, but I’d stress that either are acceptable.
The new version only has a few very minor alterations to the wording when compared to the 2011 version.

Yes, forgot to say ADR! Thanks DD, my company is saying black and white is ok and has also reduced the size to A5 so we get 2 pages on each side of an A4 sheet, if you see what I mean…

That’s understood mate, but I’d suggest that the company asks their DGSA, because they’ve got this one wrong.
ADR 5.4.3 is where they need to look.
