Purely hyperthectical scenario, but if you had an o licence for say 4 lorries and 8 trailers and you wanted more trailers could you leave them at someone else’s yard who had the spare capacity on their licence.
Legally no, because you would still be operating more trailers than you have authority for. If VOSA came along and looked at your maintenance records they would see that you had fitters invoices and maintenance sheets for more than the 8 you’re allowed to have and the ■■■ would hit the fan.
In practice though I’m sure plenty of people run more trailers than they’re supposed to and unless you give VOSA a reason to look closely at your paperwork you’re not going to get caught.

Do you need to inform vosa of any trailers you run, ie make serial no ect, there is no section in the self service site and rang Leeds and the lady said she had never been asked before
