Acas conciliation

Has anyone had experience with these.I believe i have an excellent case for an unfair dismissal,And believe it or not i have no hatred towards my ex boss even though i know he was too quick to point a guilty finger at me.I have lost my appeal recently and know im in the right,All i want is my job back and money i would of earned since leaving.
Have enquired about a tribunal but thought i would give this conciliation a go first.
Any views?Any success stories?.

I’ve had a dealing with them and they are completely neutral.

I got another 1000 pounds out of a firm going through ACAS

They don’t take sides all they did with me was to be a go between to me and my ex company. Acas really don’t want anything to go to court if they can help it.
In the end I settled out of court with a figure I was happy with.

The thing that bothers me slightly is that my ex company would know of my intentions through this council.
Then they would know where i believe they went wrong and have a defence ready if it did go to tribunal.
Maybe im thinking too far ahead at this stage.

I filled an Industrial Tribunal form out first of all and then sent that in to the Industrial Tribunal board who then assess it before it goes any further in other words they give the go ahead for it to go to court.
The Industrial Tribunal Board must then notify Acas who then step in and will try and see if both parties can reach an amicable solution. Like I said they will try and not let it go to court.
I would find out about filling this form out first you could used to get them from a job centre plus.

Thanks for the info.I will fill out the form and get the ball rolling.

try visiting a citizens advice bureau, remember you only have 28 days from the day of your dismissal, good luck

I used the services of ACAS when an ex employer refused to pay me outstanding wages when I left. If an agreement is made to hand over the money both parties are entering into an agreement with ACAS. If the other party fails to hand over the money ACAS WILL go after them for it.

I found their service helpful and fairly straightforward. Well worth a go.

When you deal with ACAS is it though letter, email or face to face and how long did it take them.

With me it was letters and phone, you’ll agree something on the phone then it’ll get put in writing.

do the company have to talk to ACAS or can they just ignore them and wait for a tribunal and if you go to a tribunal can you represent yourself.

Acas will be in touch with the company also. Just remember they are completely neutral. Yes you can represent yourself I did but luckily it was settled out of court which was lucky as I was up against top lawyers from London.

me to,i had a local lawyer but the london one’s have been sending him letters which he has to reply to so its costing me money every week. He has now told me to sack him but go to ACAS and the tribunal myself but use him for advice.
