I recently became very ill so I can’t drive HGV for the next 12,months 
but my old company never downloaded my digit card in 3,months!also the truck constantly had the abs light on all that time I defected it every day.
I was a tramper,shall I download the digit card at some point with vosa or just leave it??

Your legal responsibility ends with making your card available for download. Actually downloading the data (and keeping it for at least 12 months) is the responsibility of the employer/operator, not you.
Nothing will happen to the existing data on your card while you are out of the driving seat and not using the card (it won’t “expire” or disappear with the passage of time).
