My name is Dave. I remember Thomas Paine transport very well. I worked there in West Ferry Road from June 1963 - August 1973.
It was my first job and did my apprenticeship there. I had a great time worked with some great people including Freddie, Ted, Fred and Peter.
I only saw Abdee Transport lorries a few times after I relocated out of London, the only reason why I left Thomas Paine.
I spoke to Freddie Abdee again about twenty years ago. I often wondered what happened to everyone.
Any ideas guys ? I probably would remember your father.
Hope to hear from either of you guys. Cheers, Dave.

I remember you Don, Rochester and Abdee at Millwall and Fort St, I used to drive that old Tetley’s F88 with air horns, the fastest in the fleet. Boss St brings back memories with that buster blood vessel type character unloading T chests, trips down to Avonmouth, Droitwich, Manchester & even on the odd occasion delivering kegs of beer to Royal Navy depots. I can remember getting banned from Faversham brewery for losing my temper and throwing pallets at their staff when I accused them of taking back handers from Outen Transport to slide in front of the queue to load. Brentford canals, loading coffee and that odd job that came up removing melted bronze from Cricklewood stores when it burnt down. Even used to do waste paper bundles to Aylesford paper Mills. Timber from Tilbury. Cocoa beans to Hull, Tate and Lyles and those annoying plastic bags they put over sugar that when throwing your sheets over it would slide off.
Still driving lorries now, working on the Shell contract for 15yrs now…can’t wait to retire…gasp!
