Has anyone any stories (horror, or otherwise) of the A939 Grantown-on-Spey to Tomintoul road? Had the pleasure of going up there the other day with a full load of construction materials on… hadn’t been up that road before even in a car, and thought it was a pretty challenging road for HGVs, really enjoyed driving it though, but it left me longing for a manual gearbox and a clutch
Here’s a video, just a few minutes of scenery, a section at a place called Bridge of Brown - was thinking it should be renamed the Bridge of Brown trousers!
Video was taken on my way back when empty, was fully loaded at nearly 44t going the other way - the old donkey struggled on a few sections, especially the 20% uphill gradient! She struggles for traction in the wet on flat roads FFS! I love how when going down the hill, you can see the size of the hill you need to go up on the other side
Any of you crazy enough to go up there in winter?

Nobody goes up there in the winter now that Mrs MacKay has passed on. Nice video!
thats one of the better roads up there
Attention seeking!
Why would you feel the need to video yourself doing what you’re paid for and then share it on youtube?

Probably because were not all miserable old ■■■■■■■ like you

To give grumpy old ■■■■■ something to complain about, obviously. The question could have been asked standalone - but the vid illustrates the point I think. Don’t like it / not interested, then don’t watch it, I really couldn’t give a toss.

Aye she went through some shovels did the old girl
Is the little tearoom still there just after the hairpin bend , there was a young lady selling icecreams there a few years ago , had a fine pair of lemontops on display in a teashirt rather too small for her ample bosoms
I enjoyed that, some parts there you really would be in the mire if you met another lorry or a worse still a wobble box.
Its a braw road even more enjoyable with a tipper on with greedy boards up and loaded with bark swinging all over the place. Brown trousers awright.
33 seconds in there’s a right hander with markers, one of ours went off there some 20 years ago. He survived but the unit and walking floor trl were not so lucky.
Sorry but don’t see the fuss.
As someone said; up here it’s one of the better roads!
The A what-ever it is from north of Ullapol across to Lairg had, until recently, grass growing up the middle!
used to be a regular on that road delivering the malt into the stills and draff out onto the farms, if you want a worse road then go to applecross fully frieghted that will test ya truck out

This is the guy who once told me on here that I remind him of his wife.
…Didn’t quite know how to take that tbh…insulted or flattered
Maybe that’s why he’s so ■■■■ grumpy if his Mrs looks like a rugged butch handsome trucker like me.

Three words that no-one ever thought would be associated with RobRoy unless the word not was included!

… not trying to be funny, but some of us go on that road/roads like that – and far worse – every day of our working lives!
It’s called “Welcome to The Highlands of Scotland”!!
(and you should try the zb roads when the midge fodder (sorry, tourists) are out in force. Morons.

aye spent a good part o my life running roads like that ,even had tae take learners and experienced drivers out up on the single tracks wae bridges at right angles tae the road (that part o the job came to an end when I left a x motorway monkey up at a dead end glen after he wouldn’t take a telling about how to approach driving on singletracks ) aye kin white settler tourists shudder. canie reverse a car 20ft or expect you to pull onto the verge loaded after a months worth o rain in a week. aye shinning bright, lol …just the same enjoyed the video. now I’m on the wide open prairies.
