Sounds about right for this now bloody awful country, we’ll let all sorts of ragamuffins, non members of the caravan club, leave piles of crap and mayhem behind them all over the place, but by God we’ll soon sort some poor lone sod out who’s doing no one any harm.
Makes you proud to be British so it does.

Well said

Totally agree.
His presence was causing a danger to the public who turned to look at him etc, so the ■■■■■■ in the Perth & Kinross council said. The general public have no civil rights any more ! I used to look forward to seeing him as I went up and down that road.

aye, you have more rights here if your a ■■■■■■ immigrant or a rag head camel jockey. This hole of a country is getting beyond a joke. :imp:
Was talking to an old mate who buggered off to Australia 12 years ago at a friends wedding last week, I’m now even more convinced its a hole after that.

I hardly ever head up there now but I always gave the guy a wave when I went past. I haven’t stopped though but best of luck to him wherever he is

Move him along because he’s causing a distraction, but it’s perfectly legal to plaster adverts all over billboards and buses for you to read whilst you’re driving, as long as there is money in it for someone :unamused:

Causing a distraction aye alright. I’d love to know how many accidents have occurred where he is parked due to drivers being " distracted" by him. I bet the number is a big fat zero :unamused: Load of ■■■■■■■■ in my eyes. Someone did say on Twitter though they think they’ve moved him on as they are preparing the A9 for dual carriageway.

As much as I disagree with them moving him on… they kinda had to, and it was always going to happen. Surprised he got 3 years out of it tbh.

They’ve moved him on because they can, and because they don’t want him setting a precedent for just setting up home wherever you please. There are other groups of people that do this en masse, think of the problems that often causes.

What this guy needs, if he really doesn’t want to live in a house, is a campervan/motorhome. That way he can take full advantage of the right to roam, simply by moving the van to a new location every so often. And it’d probably be a ■■■■ sight more comfortable / warmer in winter!

Gotta say though, if it was me, i’d be holed up in the woods or a forest somewhere… not 3 metres from one of the busiest roads in Scotland! And i’d need WiFi

they don’t want him setting a precedent for just setting up home wherever you please.

■■? so how come out travelling community ‘friends’ can ■■?

That, was exactly the point I was making in the following sentence. If they let him just live there forever, they’d have a tough job ‘moving on’ others that choose to live a similar lifestyle…

They will always move on the gypes, but how many people do you know that would choose to live like him in a location like that. I can’t see it becoming a trend somehow.
Britain is full of eccentrics, they should have left the poor bugger alone.

In the article, it says a 69 year old man was arrested for assault. I assume its Charles who was arrested.

So to sum up, a friendly and well liked chap decides to sleep in a car and/or tent. After some council knob jockeys get giddy and serve an eviction order, his stuff gets chucked in a skip and he gets arrested.

[zb]ing disgrace.

+1
Unfortunately this country tends to criminalise those who need help and help those who are criminals.

The old bill have always had it in for him he told me. This all come about him having to sleep in his car was to do with him seeing a coppers wife, the copper ruined him in the end he lost his home, his best mate lost his business through it, the coppers harassed him that much his mum died through stress in an old folks home and the free masons were involved in making his life a misery.
He told me that the old bill visited him regular whilst living on the A9 and they got someone out to ■■■■ the ECU up on the car so nothing would work. Take it all with a pinch of salt what he said but you never know with the corrupt/bent ■■■■■■■ working for queen and country. He could well have been telling the truth.

More and more bent cops on the news these days.

Coppers and Freemasons a deadly mix.

I must admit I always felt sorry for his circumstances until I happened to make a delivery in Blair Atholl and got talking to a couple of the locals. The blokes not especially well liked, had numerous neighbour disputes including him wielding a gun at one point, when he moved into the first layby he certainly still had a house and may still have one further up the road somewhere. I, like many, have stopped and talked to him on numerous occasions, however he’s told me numerous reasons his circumstances all of which vary on a day to day basis, they include he couldnt live in his mums house because it was to traumatic after she died, so he just packed up and left, on another occasion it was because he lost his garage subsequently became homeless, then it was because his neighbours at all the houses he’d lived in had had a vendetta against him, I also heard the policemans wife bit. There’s no two ways about it, the bloke was a nut job and seemed paranoid but he chose to live there.
He did well being there as long as he was but it was inevitable he’d have to go now the duallings started. and his recently acquired motorbike was tidier than mine!!!

So now we are all going to be searching Scotlands roads and lay-bys for him ?
Or do you think they have put him in an old folks home /jail /nut house / council flat .

Charlie got arrested for smacking one of the court officers there to evict him, ended up with a fine of a grand.
Any time I spoke to him he seemed ok, maybe a wee bit eccentric but just an old guy having a rough time.
I don’t know the full story but I suppose if I was was one of his old neighbours I might have a different view.
Also the reason he lasted so long in the laybye was because his camp was regarded as an official protest, so the council couldn’t just barge in and move him on.

Bad nights sleep Rob? Lol.

the truth is you cant admit to yourself that youre jealous of that guys freedom , or the freedom he HAD . youre certainly not really free if youre a slave to a 9 to 5 job now are you.

I didn’t realise that unemployment & dossing in an old Merc was living the dream! You must be easily pleased, lol.

Anyway, yesterdays Sun newspaper reported the fella was now in a homeless hostel in Perth, but has vowed to be back in situ in the lay-by even if he has to kip on the grass!

Just read in the Press and Journal that his fine has been paid by well wishers.
