Yeah, into Penpont and then up towards Scar water ( i think its called), it was kinda tight. If i hadn’t been given directions and had it sussed with the map i probably would of thought i was going the wrong way. One of those roads that once your’e on it, you hope that its the right one and you’ll be able to turn when you get there!
I drive a DAF CF85, bright red (sometimes), with a stepframe trailer carrying straw.
First time i’ve been to that particular area but i’m always along D+G somewhere!

they do the same on the a9 but as one of our casual drivers found out last tuesday the police are now taking a dim view of it. they told him they see anybody now with more than 8 veichles behind them and not letting them past then they give a warning 1st time, get caught again then they gonna charge them with driving without due care and attention. the guy got some talking too from them

A75 seems the perfect road to have average speed cameras on it. How come they aint on it? Some one should point out to the local council the amount of revenue they may be missing by not installing them !!!

nighty 6 nights a week delivering rolls for bakery out of dumfries go as far as n/stewart up 2 wigtown then back 2 base vai castle douglas/ dalbeattie last night ferry must have been late due 2 weather road is not as bad as members point out im on multy drops i agree certain store delivery still sit at 40 mph had 2 go vai springholm fri at 8.30 am by the time he reached duel carrageway west of dumfries he had 15/20 cars behind him

May I also say that this road has a very high accident rate for trucks, due to all the low flyers who think they will never come unstuck. Unfortunately, they also hurt and kill innocent people.

Speeding does indeed increase the chance of an accident, but people that do the speed limit on a road like that just incourage folk to get impatient,pass and take risks.
Its hardly as dramatic as you make out tho is it? I mean, you get caught speeding and you get 3 points, big chuff, its hardly a case of, you WILL loose your license, You WONT get paid when your locked up, YOU will not be able to afford food, you will loose your house, YOU wont be able to buy food and everyone will die. ■■■■ off. flat to the mat is the only way, i got a tug at Annan, they clocked me at 61mph but done me for being 2 mins short on a 45 break instead, if you want sit at 40mph, you better pull your mirrors in cos i’ll blow them off on the way past,c’mon

i drive at a speed that is suitable for the road, and the conditions. just because i’m not a yes man makes me a dangerous person in the eyes of jobsworth tossers.
As i’ve previously said, i drive this road a lot. If you want to sit at 40mph, thats your perogative, whatever. I’m not going to get excited about it. I on the other hand tend to sit at 50mph, or whatever the road conditions dictate. Mind, i’m not going to speed up on the few bits of dual carriageway, because i feel it gives folk who want to go quicker more chance to get by, i’ll also drive closer to the side of the road on the wide bits for the same reason. I never break the limit going through the villages, you’re just asking for trouble by doing that.

I never mentioned 61mph,i said on the limiter,55.8mph the polis said i was averaging and wot i quoted was their exact words,maybe i was lucky and got a polis man who obviously had a bit o common sense.Apart from the 2 villages and the twisty bits past Newton its quite easy to sit flat out the whole way and no break sweat or kill anybody,most cars won,t even notice you but they do get pee,d off sittin mile after mile at 40

not at all my dear fellow,quite the opposite in fact.i will take any punishment(as i have done in the past) on the chin and not complain about it.
however,as i dont have a go at any drivers who choose to sit at 40mph and occasionally pull over to let queues clear,dont have a go at the drivers who dont work for asda and such like and need or want to get their jobs done,and most are like myself cannot afford the luxury of plodding about all day long.its called “the real world”.
and i will sit here all day long having pops at “idiotic dangerous buffoons” who in my opinion endanger more lives by causing huge queues by not pulling over as they are sticking to a way outdated law thinking its cool,causing frustration and encouraging drivers to take risks which endanger everyone.

I had one last night, one of the buttholes from CURRYS Newark, 40mph from Castle Douglas to Dumfries, then onto the GLEN By-Pass flat out, isnt the limit on a dual carriagway 50mph? So why does this ■■■■■■■■ hit the limiter?? I think these gimps get some sort of satisfaction out of it? Suffice to say I got him at the 200YDS signs and MADE him SLOW DOWN… Keep er lit big boys…

AARGH. I got rid of my points last month - i managed to pick up 12 in a month 3 yrs ago…48, 46, 46 & 47 in a national limit…same camera - don’t ask, it didn’t flash.
When I’m running down the 605 @ 3am and the road is empty, sitting at 50 seems a little slow. And when I’m running back up there lunchtime, and i’m slower and a little more alert in my mirrors for smokey, or the nob in the camera van (like the grinning twit on one of those shows boasting about his own 3 points - ■■■■) ickheads are pulling suicidal overtakes on the twisty bit between lilford and barnwell - i’ve seen some crazy near misses.
If you sit at 40mph on the A75 your a danger not only to yourself but to other road users. Nothings going to happen sitting at 50 or a tad under. Common bloody sense.
If your too scared to go 1 mph over then get your backside over into a layby rather than building up queues like this:
