The diversion route is pants for artics.
Bear in mind lads and lasses, the 18 ton weight limit on Cleveland Bridge in Bath is enforced with ANPR cameras and random police checks even though the offence falls under Trading Standards weights and measures act for their prosecutions.
I would advise anyone not to use it when empty too as being below 18 ton in an artic is not a get out jail card at approximately 16 tons.
Bradford on Avon is not an option for over 18 t trucks as you have the busy bodies there with their hi-vis on, cameras and video equipment on behalf of Lorrry Watch.
Hey Tobes, long time no hear. Hope all’s well
The sign says 18T m.g.w. It doesn’t say 18T.
In my opinion (for what that is worth) it would be better to show the (imho) clearer weight restriction of a black silhouette of a truck with 18T in white.
18t mgw looks too like the 18T sign which refers to the actual weight of a vehicle, not the plated or permitted weight.
Open to being told if I’m wrong*
*question of when rather if
There are plenty of drivers ignoring the warnings to not use Cleveland Bridge.
You are correct, it’s MGW.
Paid by the hour so happily divert
You can enjoy the Wiltshire countryside and the valley view near Box is quite spectacular.
I mindlessly drove over that bridge when I first delivered to our shop in bath and then to Chippenham. Depot got a letter saying naughty boy don’t do it again…or else! Lesson learned.
I think they allow two crossings of the bridge with two warning letters and then they prosecute on third crossing.
