Hullo Dennis,
Thanks for the information, wow that is a surprise, I always thought he was a great bloke, still I suppose people change in twenty odd years. Say hullo to Les for me. I remember climbing into his cab one day for a cup of tea, christ it was like Crystal Palace, radio bits and pieces everywhere, he spent his time talking to people all over the World on some sort of short band thing, he tried to explain it but I was completely lost. I never even had a CB.
Cheers, Archie.
my dad jack ellener worked for a one for many years . he started at jack lane hunslet, they moved to geldard road in the late sixties i think . the site was called 4 acres . i remember trailer mating in the school holidays . drivers like burt diamond, joe spieght, and lots more .i worked in the garage when i left school the manager was reg walters and his alsatian dog.
depablo:
Was there an old guy called “Jackie Page” worked for them?Drove a bedford 4 wheeler, had the shakes.
Story goes he hit an electric cable in the docks and it blew the tyres of the truck he was in.
circa 72 / 73?
there was frank page he drove for a long time then went in the garage as an electricion ,we used to go up to sherburn airport to see to jack robinsons plane

Hi,Jeff
Yes there was a frank page he was a driver in my dads days when I went to work for A one as a sparky he was my gaffer. He died I think about 82 or 83 also went to his funeral. He had a brother called reg who was also a driver and his son called Mark came ito the garage for a couple of year and got made redundant with other apprentices. I went in Jack Robinsons plane a couple of times once at sherburn and then he moved it to Rufforth airfield.
