Your right there Keith, his biggest downfall was his arrogance and attitude to everyone around him, basically he was just a spoilt brat that needed a lesson in manners, but as a traffic manager he was one of the best, he didnt need a computer he had it all in his head, but even I was one of the drivers who almost lost his job because of him, it was John Holdroyd who calmed down the situation at the time, because I was just about to break his jaw when he stopped me, because Glen had got to me that day and I had seen the red mist, but John backed me up in the argument.
But as a transport manager he was one of the best, but an arrogant one at that. :imp: Jack.

Isn’t that the TK Bedford he painted at home one weekend himself, I remember him painting one because it needed it, but when Jack saw it he had it in the paint shop and had it done right, because it was the wrong color and looked as it had been painted with a yard brush.
He was a great bloke but not so good as a painter. :-Jack.

Talking of bedford s there were 3 or 4 based at bradford when we worked out of there Maurice Eccles was in the transport office then , he used to be the seaker in at Bells in the 50s and 60s.These bedfords had clifford parrott on the door and did casting out of hepworths mainly but there was another one a TK the others were KMs and the lads at bradford called the driver of this Glassback does anyone remember him. The KMs were changed for VOLVOf6 s all on B reg about1984,if i remember write.

Well lads, time is getting on again and there has been no response to the request for another reunion, except from Stuart Broughton who usualy books the venue, and he also has another place we can go not too far away from the Bold Privateer if you would like a change.
Please let me know if your all still interested and we can get the ball rolling again, but we must know how many will be going so we can book a date, also do you still want it in October again, we need to know. :-Jack.

Thanks Keith, Jeff Ellener is more than welcome, in fact I’d like to see more people who have had any connection to A1, relations and even friends because many of them will have memories just like we do the more the better, so the sooner we get the word out and get the ball rolling we can book a date, so if you can start from your end and we can start from our end, book a date and get on with it, there have been a couple of drivers who were interested who have been reading our thread and I say let them all come, just let us know who and how many so we can decide how many to cater for, “providing you all still want to eat”, :- Jack

Hi Stuart, I agree with you, it’s better the devil we know and your right we’ve always been made welcome, so all we need now it a few phone calls “since not everyone is on line”, I think we can get on with it like we did last year, can I suggest 6th or 13th October, which is about the same time as last year, unless we get lots of people wanting another date because of holidays etc, so unless there’s an outcry from any-one we can book the date to suit you and Angie the landlady, which will be fine by me. Regards :-Jack

Hi All,remember Stuart asking about Roy Thompson, speaking to a driver today ,as you do and aone popped up ,he said he new Roy but he died about 2 years ago :frowning: the guy was big character, wish we could bring them all back, you would would have to hire elland road football ground for the reunion ,keith

I’m so sorry to hear Roy Thompson has passed away, sadly it’s one thing we cant avoid, but your right he was one of A1’s big character’s but like many more he will be remembered for years to come, he was one of those drivers who you cant forget, also as you said we would have to hire Elland Road to get everyone in if they were all still here. :-Jack.
