I believe in Synchronicity,so the arrival of my post in the letter V part of this A To Z Transport Miscellaney thread could have been timed to providentially appear on the 78th Anniversary of the start of World War Two on Sunday,3rd September,1939 ! :exclamation:

So we are now going to take a look at the outcome of World War Two - the victorious outcome for Great Britain-United Kingdom,United States Of
America,Canada and their Allies - over the Axis Powers of ■■■■ Germany,Italy and their friends.

The focus is on three days which celebrated the Allies victory over Germany,Italy and Japan - the Axis Powers - in World War Two.

I’m gonna to keep the happy photographs until last,so I’ll show some photographs of the official Allied Victory Parade of Saturday,8th June,1946,in
London,QV photographs.

Allies had won the war over Germany and Italy  …There were a lot of free rides on motor vehicles on VE Day…  -

England.Production stopped in November 1939 due to World War Two,and the factory was bombed in November 1940 by German bomber
aeroplanes.

The cars and lorries were produced mainly for the United Kingdom market, and one of the Southampton-built Chevrolet lorries can be seen in
the next joyous VE Day photograph  :-

After VE Day.

If you know your history you will have noticed that I didn’t mention Japan in the context of VE Day,the third member of the Axis Powers;the Second World War raged on in the Pacific-Asia part of the Southern Hemisphere until America stopped the war by dropping Atomic Bombs on two Japanese cities:-

Boeing B29,ENOLA GAY,dropped the Little Boy Uranium-235 Gun-Type 15 Kiloton Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima on Monday,6th August,1945.

Boeing B29,BOCKSCAR,dropped the Fat Man Plutonium Implosion-Type 21 Kiloton Atomic Bomb on Nagasaki on Thursday,9th August,1945.

These two atomic bombs saved thousands and thousands of lives on both sides of this war,and they ended the Second World War.Facts.

And then came VJ DAY Victory In Japan Day on Wednesday,15th August,1945 - the announcement of the Japanese surrender, and the official VJ
Day date in the United Kingdom, and Sunday,2nd September,1945 -the signing of the official surrender, and the official VJ Day date in the USA! :exclamation:

The two dates are a new one on me - I thought it was just the 15th of August

Finally,I’m not through with VE Day and VJ Day just yet.

The Two Dancing Men : The Dancing Sydney Man. The Dancing London Man.

The Dancing Sydney Man.
The Dancing Man,1.In the Australian Movietone Newsreel of the VJ Day celebrations in Sydney,Australia,it shows a man in a suit and Trilby Hat
dancing in the street. The scene only lasts a few seconds.

The Dancing London Man.
The Dancing Man, 2…eventually rides on a lorry…

The Dancing Man, 2.I haven’t seen the following short film for years, but a Tommy Trinder-like man with a suit and a Trilby Hat also dances on the
street …in the centre of London I’m guessing, either on VE Day or VJ Day.He dances and dances for at least a minute, then he jumps onto
the back of a moving lorry, sits down on it’s body and smiles at the movie-film camera still following and filming him.The film then finishes.

Was this film inspired by the dancing Sydney man? Who filmed it? - Movietone again? But this time in London? Or was it a film
production company making a fictional filmic representation of VE Day-VJ Day using a dancing man as the celebratory theme of this film?
Or whatever. What is the title of this film? Was it made on VE Day or VJ Day? Who was this Dancing London Man? Tommy Trinder?
Or another man?

I haven’t seen this film for years, but I saw it several times in documentaries on World War Two,especially about VE Day and/or VJ Day.
I would love to see this film again, and have a copy of it.

Can anybody else remember seeing this Dancing London Man film? :exclamation:

I’m quite interested in World War Two,especially in the Homefront in Great Britain, the Blitz, wartime radio, the great music of this period,
the civilian and military motor vehicles of course  ,and so on,etc.

VALKYRIE

I have a picture of a truck called a “Velie” but can’t find it. Has any body else got an image they can post? Velie was a close relative of John Deere and made trucks in the 1920’s. Not many survived; in fact: Velie very rare.

V is for VALKYRIE and some fascinating posts

For some reason I always thought that the dancing man lasted for about two minutes and then he jumped onto the back of a trolley bus.

We’re getting towards the end of our trawl through the alphabet, and reaching W

As we have a few Whisky drinkers on here, W is for White Horse Whisky. (I’ve loaded rigid an AEC Mercury flat several times exactly like this with Grants whisky at their bonded warehouse in the Gorbals district of Glasgow, not for the faint hearted…you had to sheet and rope outside in full view of prying eyes.)
