Way back in the 70s during my Middle East days, I got to know the Imam that did the God Slot on Saudi TV, every night about 5:30.
A good bloke with an unbelievable life story, anyway we became friends and often chewed the fat about religion - mainly Islam, of which I learned a lot from him

His understanding was that Islam & Christianity evolved from early attempts at Socialism and were nothing to do with any of the Gods.
So in the case of Muhammed growing up in Medina, hot, dry, with not much water etc. etc. how do we make life better?
Fights over water meant lot’s of men were killed and so creating a single Man/Woman children family was out of reach of many.
So Men were asked to take on more than one wife - if they had the resources - so that everyone was looked after and cared for.
Equal care was mandated, but love was obviously not, as that cannot be so dictated.
Lots more, food etc. but that is an example.
Anyway, long story short - his very well-educated knowledge & experience was that religion was and is manipulated by the rulers to subdue the population - nothing to do with any Gods.
I asked him why, with his massive TV audience he didn’t tell it like it was??
His answer was “How long do you think I would last ■■ I do my best to drip feed knowledge as best I can”
One of the best Holy Men I have met, not once did he ever mention a verse of scripture or any supposed words from a being from outer space, just good common sense and a care for others.

Telling people they are sinners and loving them are two seperate things.If we have someone come to us who are living in sin,we must tell them they need to stopIf we didnt,that isnt love for our neighbour,that would be self love.If you have sin in your life,my advice would always be ,get rid of it.

What I always tried to emphasise to you is we (fundamentalusts)we dont lay the standard of what is morally right or wrong.Because with us,the Bible lays the standard.Now,if you and I were having this conversation 200 years ago,you would get the same answer as you would today because morality doesnt change with time.Hopefully,what I said today,illustrates this.These pride marches and all this stuff,I mean,you cant even go into a bank to withdraw money without having all this stuff rammed down your throat constantly and the idea is brainwashing everyone into believing that something that was previously unacceptable is suddenly a good thing and ,hey,they are doing a pretty good job of it,except us Christians.We stand our ground and we wont be dictated to about how we think

I’m getting milage out of this purely for the reason that him and his type annoy the ■■■■ out of me,.and always have.

I absolutley dont think Im more intelligent than you,Im only a trucker,like most on here .I believe in marriage definetly.Why wouldnt I? Its the best thing we have ,I think.One of the elders told me that most children today,by the time they leave primary school,their parents have already split up.Now this devestates childrens lives and I have seen this first hand.I havent had to suffer this.My parents were married for 40 years and that was a great benefit for us.The idea of them splitting,having new partners is not something I would have liked,a stranger coming in and replacing my mom or dad.
If this is outdated,then what was wrong with this?

Is it not possible to agree with marriage and not be classed as judgental?Just because I believe God designed us only to have one partner,does that automatically qualify me as a bigot?
