Carryfast, I think losing your load from a flatbed is grounds for immediate dissmissal, the face fitting thing is also very apt, that’s the way it is at BFS, so it can be a good job if you have the pretty face, I can curdle milk by walking past a closed fridge so I was always going to be in trouble there
Totally agree with NMM if you lose a load or even a part of a load that is gounds to send a driver packing, period.
I also agree with the other comment and NMM reply to it. Anyone who stands up for themselves at BFS is an instant target. Stick up for another driver the same applies. Dont agree with something and let them know in no uncertain terms they will have you sitting until you have to take the cobwebs out of you kit. Thats the way it is there plain and simple.
Carryfast I wish you would stop. Kerri happens to be one of the people who writes the rules, she is a senior member of the MOT safety advisory panel. She better than anyone knows what the rules are.
I am also going to comment on the long vs short load thing in NMM post. That is actually a better way to do things dont you think give the drivers that have been there a while the long trips let the new ones stay close, to home base for a while until they are at least past their probationary period. Makes good sence to me.
BFS doesnt have alot of training for load securement, tarping or anything they have a 1 week orientation and if you are lucky and have time on Friday you will get an hour to throw a couple straps and maybe put up a tarp.
I saw bobcat loads leaving the yard with the loads so insecure that the back unit was moving side to side 6 to 8 inches. Straps being used that should have been taken out of service, have photos of some that were left on a load I picked up. Some of the drivers they were hiring last summer had no deck just van experience. There is alot of difference between the two. Taking a look at myself I had years of oilfield deck, logbooks there were no such things oilfield is exempt. Tarps were something you carried to put up if you broke down in the winter or when it was raining to provide shelter while you fixed your rig. That however does not execpt the driver from taking the time to learn this stuff on their own. General rule of thumb if it is on your trailer it can only be one of two things Load or Load Securement. No reason to lose even a part of the load none what so ever. You are required by law to stop and do load checks, not doing them well that is laziness, the company is not resposible the driver is. You sign off on orientation part of that you sign off is being trained in load securement.

WheelNut,
I’m sorry that I can’t come up with anything new, but it seems that nothing has changed at BFS, well not for the better anyway
Brentanna,
Wow, you managed to spit every word you’ve written, are you having hormone problems? To answer your questions and comments, the office in Winnipeg is recent, they’ve been flexing their muscles recently too, I didn’t say a specific date for either, just that it was recently It relates to a new thread because the ‘new’ pay structure seemed that it was robbing Peter to pay Paul, however in practice it means that some drivers are earning more, some are not. As for pub talk, I think not, I have a friend who works inside the glass at BFS and he tells it as it is and that is as much as I’m prepared to say on the matter, the driver that was fired from Toronto is German, the one who dumped the truck in BC is Canadian.
Oh and you say about Penner trucks and such in the ditch, yet you told us that you’re at home and not working and have been ever since your departure from BFS, so which are you lying about? Being at home or driving a truck through SK?
FTTM,
Last but by no means least TC1 was a total ■■■■■, ice and blowing snow all the way to Winnipeg, doing it all again in a bit, heading for Lethbridge this afternoon I should be up your way this evening
OOps,just read this NMM,a bit sooner and there would’ve been an invite for a frosty beverage.Have a “decent” trip back home if you can.

See I knew it you are B-Buddies (beer buddies )
Good on BFS putting up the drivers money I say. I hope your getting plenty miles in Masher not just airmile flying about. A bit concerned with that title you may not be as pretty as you think though
Maybe its time I applied for a job there again if theres money to be earned.
Drivers losing loads off flatdecks is poor, particularly given all the straps you have to use by law over their. I was never short of straps or chains & dogs in my short stint there, I was short of rope hooks, ropes & real tarpaulins though Them poxy rubbers where a ■■■■■■■ nightmare
Good luck to ya Chap.
masher:
hello all i recently was the one who flew to kelowna bc to pick up the truck in question.the canadian driver had an accident and from what i heard gave 3 different stories on how it happened.bfs decided it would be more prudent to send me to pick up said truck.on the pay scheme from someone who knows as i work there still.as a long haul driver a pay increase of 5 cents a mile to 41 cents is a good incentive as it is proved as all trucks are currently filled 25 new trucks on order and 50 new trailers 25 step 25 flats.NNM your comments are noted but out of date.BFS have there problems like all trucking companys but ifeel they are going in the right direction thats why im still there.also NNM i have a very pretty face
Glad you’ve come on here then Masher, up until now it’s all been a bit one sided, my feelings for BFS are abundantly clear, but even so I still recommend them as a way of getting over, not everyone will think the same way as me, I have a couple of mates that do very well there.
My stuff on BFS is going to be a bit behind the times, contrary to poular belief I don’t spend my whole life worrying about them or what they’re doing, so I only pick up the odd titbit here and there, from my point of view I don’t think much has changed, I still feel that their attitude to drivers stinks, but if you’re a pretty boy then they may treat you differently, lucky for you that you’re a looker
I hope to bump into you around town one day, I know for a fact we’ve never met as the BFS drivers I know are an ugly bunch who could curdle milk through a closed fridge door
