A & G Pearson Tspt, Bristol.

I drove for Pearsons from the mid seventies. They were great times covering the changeover from Mandators & Guys to continental sleeper cabs. Unfortunately I don’t have any good photos of the wagons. Does anyone out there remember Pearsons?

Hello,heres a Big J.

Cheers Bubbs.

Fantastic! That looks like one of the special trailers, equipped with Joloda runners, which trunked from DRG Shortwood with empty smartie tubes (honest!) to Rowntrees, York & came back just with mt pallets. The trailers were left at Shortwood, loaded by DRG & you just came in solo & hooked up to the loaded one. They indicated the loaded one by leaving the del notes tucked into the back door handle until one day…they put the notes on the wrong (& empty!) one. One v. embarrassed driver had to phone from York when he opened the trailer doors & found it full of air. The load was so light that you couldn’t tell the difference. I drove an MAN UEU 280T & then an F10 FAE 670K. I would love to have a photo of one of them but thanks for this.

Yes I remember them used to pull lots out of DRG Fishponds.
I used to work for Smith’s in Hanham in the 80’s, now long gone.
I remember Brian used to do the shuttle between Fishponds and Brislington, Short’ish chap with a limp Dont know if he’s still about (Brian that is) I used to see him in Asda But ot seen him for a few years now

I remember Smiths of Hanham. Another firm that ran in & out of DRG was Fred Gibbs of Warminster - also Pearson’s rivals Freightline Transport. I wonder if there is a string dedicated to Bristol Haulage Firms? Does anyone know when Pearson’s packed up & what happened to George Pearson? There is still a listing for AG Pearsons Removals on the net but I wrote to them a while ago & had no reply.

I remember that lot  . Dont know when Pearson’s closed or what happend to George. They seemed to have just faded away.

Remember Pearsons when I used to do 4or 5 pick ups round the Bristol packaging factories for Western Freights Brislington. Backloading for Wills Woodbine Newcastle & others.

I remember Pearsons. They loaded out of DRG Yate a lot. A mate of mine used to drive for them-Alan Glastonbury.
Also remember Smiths of Hanham. They ran ERF’s and did a lot of waste paper on flatbed trailers. Knew a chap that used to drive for them-Gordon-but can’t remember his surname.

The old guy was Gordon Reed and the younger one was Gordon Vickery
Rex and Ann Smith still live next to what was the yard opposit the Blue Bowl.
Charles Smith had passed on a few years ago and Jeramy Rex’s son lives in Charles old house now.( Jerry said his dad’s not too good unfortunatly.) he’s a box jocky out of avonmouth.
Alan Cousins went and worked for Chris Baber in Brislington when Smiths shut down.( I think he’s retiering or has retiered this year but knowing what Alan’s like he wont leave transport alone  )
Dont know what happened to Ray Thomas ( taffy ) he might still be kicking around I just dont know.
Terry the fitter passed away :frowning: ( throat cancer I believe) 2007/8 he wernt that old. think he worked for VOSA when Smiths closed down, in the MOT test station. Terry was a great guy always up for a laugh, a sad loss.
Nigel Loxly the other lad I worked with is still knocking about, last I saw of him he was doing tankers.
Bert was off doing taxi work when he retiered not seen him for a while.
Roy ■■? I aint got a clue where he went .
Lee (sumo) left and set up on his own Still see him about now and again.
Kipper Lee’s old man I aint seen for a while last time I saw him was 3 /4 yrs ago.
Me well I’m here

Might have been Gordon Reed. We worked together for Richard Harris (HH Transport) for a while. He also had a couple of spells with Martin Galpin (Martin Logistics). He lived at the top of the hill in Old Sodbury.

Remember Pearsons, used to see them in DRG cartons ,Fishponds, was it Goodneston rd, loading bays on a slope and a dodgy angle?Wasnt DRG flexible packaging further down the road?
Also used to load out of Mardon son and Hall, Warmley via Western freights then off Saville Freights.
