An article in this weeks CTC mag quoted a poll from one of the motoring orgs that 20% of under 35s were unable to read a map and 50% could read one but not effectively plan a route.
A word of warning to anyone shelling out for an expensive satnav and relying on it - I saw a notice at a tesco RDC on Satruday warning that Satnav is now banned in all their vehicles, following a fatal accident caused by someone using one. I’m sure it doesn’t apply to pulling over to use one, then putting it back in you bag but if you can remember the next few steps of your journey you can probably cope with a paper map.
