A cracking video indeed. How many lorries had radio 'phones in 1969? There must have been good money in the job- radio communications, two-man crews, hotels and only 15 ton loads.
Good video indeed when the job was good as well, and drivers respected. Now were classed as the scum of the earth
Very good
Well worth watching.Thank you
Great post and video, couple of things to consider , I note that the driver was getting £3 .10s per night in expenses, beer was around a bob a pint, crisps 6d I should imagine the hotel was about 10 bob, average speed about 50mph…
after 43 years its not much faster now… in an a series erf… so much for progress eh!
Seriously interesting and informative video. I’d seen TIR many of times, and had been told it was for continental work, but never actually knew what it meant, or it’s true purpose. Oh, the joys of going to Milan, or even far beyond the realms of Europe in a tiny little ERF cab must have been a ball breaker.
