I’ve just been offered a Class 2 job in Harleston (what, 6 miles from Bungay?) at £6.83 p.h.

The FT 7.5t drivers at our firm are on £6.15 ph, whilst I am on a restrictive PT contract at    £8 ph (no OT, salaried)

I think these low pay amounts are stupid considering WTD and everything…

Just my 2p worth… :sunglasses:

I used to get £6.30 p.h. for driving an 3.5t iveco van in London and it was so laid back it was unbelievable. It’s just this area is a bit ■■■■ for pay. Only thing I miss about London was my job. :frowning:

I’m not laughing at this by the way, I’ve took it. I’m laughing in comparison to £5.50 for class one just down the road.

My seventeen year old niece has just started a job at our local specsavers place and she is on £5.50p/h :open_mouth:

Well at least the company offering this insult has been ‘named and shamed’.

People obviously spend more on their specs than on their road haulage! :unamused:
If the guy only paying £5.50 theres probably not much else in it, as a rule we don’t set out screw the wages down you know.

If he can only afford to pay £5.50 then why bother taking the work on? Its an insult to offer it. I know someone will take it eventually, but only because they have to. Unfortunately there’s not enough people out there able to say ‘sod that’ I’ll keep looking until I get what I think is fair. I would imagine it’ll be similar for the haulier as well, but its a big can of worms to open up if I go futher down that road looking for reasons. I know you don’t set out to screw the wages down but every firm I know has and lets good drivers walk out the door with out batting an eyelid.

I work for an agency on class 2 work. My wages per hour are £6.50.
