£1000 a week Kuwait

Job starts July for 4 to 6 months flights/housing etc paid by company.
Anyone have any experience of working in Kuwait.
Or is it that general rule that if something is too good to be true,it must be?

seems genuine enough if you read some of the later posts

it’s a genuine job, doing work from the main US base in kuwait down to the port.
kuwait’s nice, expensive but is as you expect a strict muslim country :unamused:
your accomodation is included but you have to pay for your own food. be careful if you go for the job as it’s only for 4-6 month contract and the tax man will hit you on your return as you haven’t spent full year out of the UK.

its 9 months you have to be out the country before the tax man leaves you alone, though tbh as your not working in europe then im sure it would be tax free anyway

This will be the 274 / 91 day thing is it? But then again Stuh is already out there doing it so has probably had “advice” from the “Revenue”

Out of a tax year you allowed to return to uk for 93 days before the taxman will touch you but you are still responsible for your own national insurance no matter when you return. i got hit for £450 payment to NI dept after 3 years in iraq.

Doesn’t matter where in world you work, if you are not gone for a full year tax man will want his share.

It’s a nice easy job but down side is, it is not a full years contract.

Job is genuine, leaving this week for 20 weeks.
Tax advice is correct, would need to be abroad till 1/4/2011 to get tax back.
Thanks for  advice.

Good luck,

watch out for the chinese women giving you there phone numbers! you’ll find out  :smiling_imp:

I get $1200 a week to drive NYC to Vermont    (not sure which is more dangerous    )

Hello, maybe someone knows, how big experience do they requiere to work for them, and to apply do I need to be a British citizen?

I work with a guy who does that work, he’s got all the passes needed so he could go out anytime.
He’s not going out because he says if the contract is not for 2 years it’s not woth it, something to do with not being able to work after you get back because of the tax issues.

The only issue i see is getting work once you get back,
Your gonna return to a 20% Vat country that regardless of what the government say is still in the ■■■■■■ and more people will be out of work in 2011.
No ta, its a big enough fight for the coveted drivers job as it is.

I don’t understand why you guys moan about taxes and conditions in the UK
I used to think life in the USA would be better, true I have a good life, nice home and love my family but taxes, medical costs and other things are downright diabolical compared to the UK, give me the 20% VAT and slightly higher income taxes and NI any day compared to the extortionate taxes and other chrages we get over here. We even have to pay large amounts to get the bin empty, thats above taxes, we pay for schools by way of extra tax even if you have no children ! Go gto hospital and get a huge bill and thats over the insurace you have and if your insurance says so … you dont get treatment, or you get the minimum allowed followed by another huge bill … give me the good old national health anyday, doctors dont make house calls here matey.

My household taxes are double my mortgage :astonished:

Food bills at supermarkets are double the uk equivelent and I know this bacause we come back every year for summer and buy groceries.

Don’t knock good old England, it’s the best place on earth to live

You only have a problem with the tax man if you return to the UK without completing a full year.

Also you are allowed to return to the UK for 92 days in that tax year, US citizens are only allowed back to the states for 30 days in they’re tax year.

Lads if this work is contracting with the US military what sort of plant do they use in kuwait? Is there any one back from there lately that could post there experience here.

Really interested in doing this kind of work.

Where do i find more details about it?
