The rules have applied ever since the UK left the European Single Market, and are a consequence of Boris Johnson’s “oven ready” trade deal that saw UK citizens become treated as 3rd-country nationals in the EU.

I`m surprised that is the first case reported?
But as newer automated passport systems are rolled out…?

Unfortunately the article was short on the useful info. Who, how much was the fine and how long were they over, and the potential blocking if an overstayer.

It will get easier for the authorities once the visa system starts, and harder for transport managers. Still…

Stop feeling hard done by.

It’s exactly the same for RO, BG, D, B, NL etc etc etc drivers,
none of them are allowed to exceed the time period.
