Do they need to pre warn you about a weight limited coming
up on the road you are on or going to turn in to .Just been traveling along
a road when a 2 signs pop up one on each side of pavement. No warning at all
so just carried on no where to turn around .Just checked google maps and couldn’t
see any.

What he tried to say.
I’ve never come across any without warning. It’s like low bridge signs, they want you to comply with them so they’re not going to try and make it difficult. But the sign is the sign, I’m sure no warning is required by law.
(But I tend to ignore them all anyway)
I’m sure most do have a pre warning, although I have had 1 or 2 that didn’t, I also had a low bridge without a pre warning sign, so, had to reverse back through traffic behind me, some nice car driver did give me assistance, which is unusual, they normally sit in your way or hands on the horn!!!
I came across a low bridge the other week, no prior warning signage anywhere, I drove round a bend and there it was. Had to reverse back through roadworks then turn round. However when checking Google earth there is a warning BUT it’s obscured in summer months by the bloody trees as it is in the Google image

The one that always sticks in my mind from one of my first agency shifts with a decker after passing my test was the one below. There was an emergency road closure on the A37 at Temple Cloud and in my infinite wisdom at the time, assumed that the black industrial estate sign pointing left (Trident Works Industrial Estate) would suggest there would be a spot to turn around. You can imagine my delight at coming around the corner to be faced with the below… I didn’t need to get close enough to read the sign to realise that I wasn’t going to fit! I managed to find the owner of the little bit of land to the left and they kindly let me in to turn, but I quickly learnt that day that not all low bridges are signposted!
