60' Supercube in Canada

Can’t realy see the point as they can run two trailer combos over here and various weird and wonderful contraptions anyway. Well other than just paying the driver standard artic rates.

Heard a report on this on Road Dog radio last week, its mechanics sound horrific, I mean the ones inside the trailer, hydraulic lifts etc…

They do make Me laugh like double deck trailers are a new concept & 60’ stepdecks too for that matter,

I cant see it taking off in all honesty, it would be great for Atlas, Mayflower etc though would’nt it?

Air ride suspension too. What will they think of next.

Disc brakes & EBS probably.

Wait untill they suss out that C15 Cats are’nt as frugal as a 240 Gardener…

There’s a man in leatherhead firing up YouTube and Wikipedia in response to that

I don’t know why they used a day cab cabover tractor, with that drom box it’s as long as a conventional sleeper and with 30% more capacity in the trailer i don’t know why they need that drom box anyway. Store loads are dropped at the store for the unloading crew to unload at a scheduled time so putting merchandise in the drom would’nt work. They may do it differently in Canada.
Here in the US a two tier trailer would’nt work either, they don’t palletize merchandise for the stores, but some of the palletized freight that comes in goes back out on the store trailer but they load loose merchandise around and on top of it by hand. The trailers are full right up to the roof and to the back door.

From what ive heard is Wal Mart does not have company drivers in Canada but use Bison for one half and another for the other half but don’t know who that is, so i wonder what them drivers think of the longer trailers ?

Where are they going to find drivers thin enough to fit in the ■■■■ thing■■? If I managed to get in the ■■■■ thing I think I would have to call the fire rescue at every drop to come and cut me out of it :grimacing: :grimacing:

Its a bit more mixed up that that. I know Bison do a lot of the stuff out west. I used to run into the Walmart DC in Cornwall, Ontario when I worked for Sunbury and we did a lot of the stores in New Brunswick and a few in Nova Scotia but other companies had other stores, and another company some others. You’re right though, we just used to drop the loaded trailers at the store and collect the empty, and it was all loaded loose on the floor and had to be handballed off by a team of lumpers who would turn up at a set time after you’d dropped the trailer.

Thanks for the info Robinhood, it really is a cushy job being a company driver, i’d hate to have to go back to working for a living
