4x2 Scammell S26 LHD units
By cross-referencing Scammell books such as Bob Tuck’s with Scammell spec-sheets, their S26 brochure and Commercial Motor issue 09/10/82 page 14, I have discovered that apparently you could specify a RHD or LHD 4x2 Scammell S26 with a Cummins NTE 350 and a Fuller RTX 11609 ‘box; and have it kitted out with Kysor air-con. It’s rated at 80t and has a 3.6m wheelbase.
If you ordered one of these in the late ‘80s you could have been in charge of a potentially serious overland long-hauler looking for an Astran tilt!
The cab was a modern, comfortable C40 from the Leyland T45 stable. The chassis was a strong, durable Scammell affair. The Cummins / Fuller / Rockwell driveline was perfect IMO.
Does anyone know of any examples?
