Drop the trailer, find a bar, beach, club = ladies house, they accept fuel cards.!!, rent a bike/car, do some exploring, mingle with the locals, walk around Murcia centre, have a cafe con leche.
If have time find a friendly garage and get the truck serviced, or a truck wash, remove all valuables if leaving the cab, i had a safe fitted under my bunk, or buy a 80`s style bum bag at the market.
Get the train, new super fast one, that goes to Alicante/Valencia or Malaga, have a wonder around, the motels and hotel are very cheap, if the driver wants a shower, most have good restaurants.
It should be warming up a bit down there, i would find a beach and have a swim and relax.Going to the cinema is a fast way to learn the language.
Get up late ,order beer in a jug & let life unfold.
I stop around there quite a bit, tend to get on my bike tho’. I usually spend 1 night in a hotel too. Warmed up down there too.
WBIS on here still? He may know a bit.

WBIS isn’t on here anymore, he packed in driving about a year ago, shame really!! Seeing him later for a pint of Brains in Barry though!!
If I remember? on the old road to Madrid abot 10ks from Murcia there is a hotel Bar 'el Toro? parking on the right & the hotel on the left, they served beer in a jug & the food was v.good.It was a hangout for the fridge lads waiting for a reload.

I’ve been racking my brains trying to think of the place I parked waiting for a load of aubergines once. And I’m pretty sure that’s it.
Also I think you can park near the bus station in Murcia too.
For me i would find a “club” , get one of their mobile phone numbers, and offer to take her out for the day on her day off, hire a car, i have done that with a Columbian young lady, we went to Madrid for the day.
Or head further South along the coast, there is a strong Brit community, with UK style bars and you can UK papers and a real fry up with original Baked Beans.UK beers too.
Cartagena is about 27 miles but there’s not much for a trucker there.

So after driving 1,500 miles you’d recomend he eats a Brit type fry up??
Ross.
find somewhere with a bit of life and play tourist
He manged to get part of his load on and is now heading up to Logrono for the weekend, I’m sure he can find some tapas and night life, any good spots in or round there would be spot on as he had two chaps try to break in when he was on a 45 on the ap7 at Beidorm!
Not a lot round Logrono, and north of Almazan > Soria gets high and prob a bit cold< crap weather uk style. So no sunbathing there. Gotta have your wits about you these days even on your rest days.

That’s the advice on where to avoid, do you have any tips of where to go that will be good
Hotel castajon on the 232 at Tudela would be handy for him. There’s not a lot in logrono.
If he exits the by pass around Almazan, you can drive through the centre, it is no problem, there is a truck stop on top of a hill by some block of flats, a super market is opposite.
Plenty of free parking behind the truck stop, the do a great value drivers menu, or a fixed price offer, or choose a hot meal or snack from the board on the wall, like pork and eggs or veal.
The coffee is good there too, and the staff are friendly, i am not sure it maybe open all night.
When you leave the town, you pass a big paper mill/factory to rejoin the newish road out.
If he goes again, it is free to go inland from Elche to Valencia, rather than pay the toll to follow the coast line , it is the same time/distance, the route is like a dog leg route.
The new free dual carriagway from Valencia to Zaragoza is very good and a free road.
There is a short cut to avoid Zaragogoza, come off to head via Almunia de donia Godina, on the 220, then take the scenic rural way on the 121, plenty of good drivers cafes.
You can exit the twin track on the A23, there are plenty of hotels and restuarants in Teruel, with the drivers menu again. If there was time, or have children, a dinosaur museum is on the outskirts.
From Logrono, either go home via Burgos, or via Pamplona, Sunbilla used to have a great truck stop, but they shut the food section down, only a garage now, it is called Kontixa, but on the right hand side, about 200 metres away from that one, is a restaurant, but it is not cheap, and the menu is a la carte, they do a good break fast there.
That hotel suggested is worth it, waited on by staff in uniform, white lined table cloths and a driver menu
