48 hour opt out

Hello,

Once you’ve signed the 48 hour working week opt out, does that give the company carte blanche to work you up to 69 hours over 5 days?

Also can you opt back in to the 48 hour week?

Thanks

There is no opt out for drivers  !!!

Once you have signed the opt out fold the paper into four, crease tightly then unfold. Now tear along the creases to give four equal sized pieces and use them as toilet paper as that is all it is good for.

The 48 hour opt out is for the regular folks flavour of WTD and not the version for mobile workers.

As others have said you cannot opt out of the working time regulations for mobile workers 48 hour week, so if you’ve signed to say that you’ve opted out of it the agreements not worth the paper it’s written on, unfortunately for you that doesn’t stop the company from expecting you to work a 69 hour week because as you probably know the 48 hours per week is actually an average of 48 hour per week over the reference period.

why would anyone be bothered about this?
the WTD was suspended last year.

Even if you did you can not work more than 60 hours a week ( exl. break and POA ) so you can win only 12 hours. Still 48 on average of 48 applies.

Could you provide a link to where it says that the WTD has been suspended.

Thanks all for the replies…have been a member on here for years though haven’t posted in a long time so all my old posts have thankfully been wiped

I signed something to do with the 48 hour opt out years ago, probably only got the job on the strength of signing it, but my circumstances have changed to the extent that 50 hours per week is more than enough…just trying to see if i can wriggle out of it before leaving the industry altogether :frowning: Love the driving but hate waiting on boats at night.
