just a query I am 45 on the day that the dcpc comes into force, so quite an expensive couple of months leading upto September, ie license renewal, medical and the rest of the cpc, my query is when would be the ideal time to get the medical over and done with to be valid with my license renewal or does dvla send out reminders in good time.

DVLA will send you a reminder & medical form all in good time
You dont have to do your cpc on that day you can spread the cost of it by doing it through out the years

i’m 45 year old this year too,not currently using the class 1 but dammed if i’m gonna let it lapse,ya never know what the future holds,could be sacked tomorrow for some unexpected crap.

I have 2 more to complete 
I had to re new mine last year
Do you need to renew your digi card as well as they also send you the forms for that a couple mth before hand you can do by phone ( quick & easy as just done mine ) or by post

On the plus side - the licence renewal itself is free (unless you also need to update your photo, which costs £20 (plus the cost of the photo).
Why do you need a reminder that you are gonna be 45 
wish they’d send me a reminder that I’m going to be 45 next birthday 
I am due for my medical this year too,this saves me posting the question then,but i will ask anyway,what is the procedure for this,I see someone says dvla sends you all the information??So i guess if my medical goes ok do i just send them back the medical report or whatever it is and do i return my licence and tacho card too for new issue ■■?

DVLA will send forms to you take to Dr have him/her fill in stamp pay for it place back in envelope send back as long as all is fine you will then receive you new licence as long as not run out you can still drive btw
Digi tach they again send forms apporx 3 mth in advance you either fill in or phone up they then send you a new 1 but you cant use it till old 1 ran out is easy have just done mine over phone so now £19 lighter for it

You never lose your entitelment on your licence if you deciced to go back driving all u need to do is take a medical and if needed the driver cpc

I’m happy to be corrected but I thought you lost it if you don’t renew it at 45, 50 and so on

You dont lose your entitlement at all all the bumff for your medical comes in plenty ov time when your 45 and so on ive just been through it took my medical thinking i would lose it but its not the case
