Can anyone give me the definitive rules on where you can and can’t have a weekly rest break please? UK and Euro interpretation would be great, thank you
You cannot record a 45 regular weekly rest in a lorry - I think that is it

Legally you cannot have a regular weekly rest period in the cab and a weekly rest period cannot be interrupted to board/disembark a ferry or train, so if you’re having a weekly rest period on a ferry it needs to be started and finished on the ferry.
As far as I’m aware most if not all EU countries are now enforcing the no regular weekly rest period in the cab rule, I don’t know how strictly it’s enforced but hopefully someone will be along shortly who does know.
This particular variation on the weekly rest regulation was pushed through - 8 think - by a Bulgarian legal adviser with the EC. it is a bizarre offence as a driver will actually be prosecuted for potentially having too much rest!!
I am sure the reference is Regular Weekly Rest away from base cannot be taken in the vehicle/ cab. In many instances, until the introduction of gps tags on the Tachograph, this offence will be detected “found committing” rather than retrospectively. The possibilities for evading it seem endless.
But ironically, will the DVSA impart a prohibition if they find an offence - you can just imagine them trying to apply that one!
