44 AXE

WTF Is the problem some have, with him looking after what is basically his mobile home?
Well done chap!

well a professional driver would probably know a bit more about what is big power for a 6 wheeler  the firm i work for run all 6 wheelers , all 360 to 420 . as usual a lot of [zb] spouted by the anti anyone who takes pride in thier truck brigade :unamused: as said by someone else his truck happens to be his hobby why is that such a big deal

I’ve drove lots of 26 tonners and usually between 240 and 260bhp, the wag + drags I used to drive were around 300bhp except the odd one which was a 360 - great when not got the drag on, so a 310 that isn’t a prime mover is quite powerfull IMHO, especially as most 44t’s are 440bhp, 10 bhp per ton for a 44t, but a 26t gets more?

I think that the averages must flatten off a bit as you see plenty of 7.5t with 150’s and 13t with 240’s

Ah so you are jealous because he’s got a truck with a decent spec not a lowest rating fleet truck (because the TM thinks the lowest power is best on fuel). Mind you our 12t puddlejumpers have 240, they don’t half move.

Just re-read all posts on here, can’t see where I said I was jealous…

I said that I had respect for him keeping it so clean.

Also said that it’s a good power if it’s not a prime mover.

I drive artics, have drove some top spec stuff, and would drive a puddle jumper if the money was right, not a glory boy, I like a nice big truck but the only reason I’m in it is for the money

Just inference from one post, I would sooner have a day cabbed rigid, decent hourly rate and good work/life balance rather than earning an extra £100 a week for living in a Scania R-series. Which is why I work for the yellow peril not the green machine.

Once again, re-read. I drive for the money, doesn’t matter what I drive, doesn’t matter who I drive for, Stobarts, DHL, Norbert etc, as long as the figure that goes into the bank at the end of the week / month is the right one, I’m a happy chap.

Never used to like doing nights out, but that changed when I was doing 15hr days, then commuting to and from work, so now I do nights out if needed, doesn’t bother me.

Have drove a day cab rigid and ran out of hours, had to do a night out, not too bad, in a ‘hotel’ (days inn) due to lack of sleeping facilities, but had to go into a tesco for a change of the basics, so I like to know before hand if I’m doing a night out or not, but the ■■■■ can hit the fan for any of us.

I saw an Axeminster motor today, I was just about to jump out and inspect the crossmembers when the lights changed :frowning:

I had to keep going as there was a coach full of … behind and I had to think of them.

44 AXE has just been to the unit a couple of door down from us (Colchester) - did a double take when I saw the reg, after just reading about it on here! It certainly is a cracking motor.
