Registration marks like these are seriously old.
Does anyone know what town issued “XE”?

Luton.

I’m sure that was when it was put in Truck and Driver (2008?) once that had been bought, the article if i remember rightly was along the lines of look at the new flagship of the fleet kind of thing!

Certainly looks like something to be proud of.

Good on 'em!

Thing is,it is a workhorse and belongs to the company use it to do the companies work then go home, why break your balls keeping someone else’s property in showroom condition? Nothing wrong with a clean motor but FFS why?

Because it’s his hobby. Some people like fishing, football, drinking you name it. It’s a nice feeling when someone says the motor looks clean. Even better to win recognition at shows. I’ve been fortunate to get a second and first in the last two years at truckfest and it’s my hobby, how many trophies do you win sat on a riverbank all weekend

No harm in having pride. I was the same when I had my own. Used to go in on a Sunday, AFTER it was washed by a company. Then do it again, and do the inside til’ it gleamed.

Now that is what I would call sad :unamused:

Thanks for your input. Did you have to Google it?

i am sure that axminster carpets pay for all his cleaning stuff and give him the truck spec’ed how he wants it. now that’s a good working relationship, don’t knock it :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

So what if he chooses to polish and respect it? World would be a better place, if we weren’t so ignorant and had a ■■■■■■ attitude like some on here. :unamused:

I’ll have to have a word with that lad of mine.
According to my information (dated 1964) XE was a London County Council number

tony moore is a gentleman , he started off in the factory and progressed to a driver . hes such a perfectionist at it all . if he doesnt win hes the first to congratulate the winners . he doesnt sit there and kick off , also he doesnt drive a v8 with lots of crap on it like most drivers think is the best. the next time you lot go to a truck show go and take a good look around it the cross members are like new , all his brass connections are shinning . tony does all the cleaning his self not any help from anybody. his previous erf’s were up to the same standard as well .

Well that’s nice to hear. A man lying underneath a lorry polishing his angry member.

Looks ok, but it’s just a DAF CF with some aftermarket bling.

Respect to the guy for cleaning it etc, as you say, each to their own, I get my truck washed (not by me) if I’ve got an early dart, a bit of time near a wash or I get told to cause it’s getting dirty.

310, does it have a drag unit too, if not, quite a lot of power for a 26t

how is that a lot of power :unamused: as to the rest of your comments if that your attitude to your job why are you even on this forum

Yes 310 is just about OK by my book, 260/270 is just pants but really wanting to be a 340 to do the job well. I had a 420 6 wheeler, went like ■■■■ off a shovel all day long and was good on fuel.

WTF are you on about ■■■■■■■■■?

It’s a professional drivers forum, not a valeters forum

well a professional driver would probably know a bit more about what is big power for a 6 wheeler  the firm i work for run all 6 wheelers , all 360 to 420 . as usual a lot of ■■■■■ spouted by the anti anyone who takes pride in thier truck brigade :unamused: as said by someone else his truck happens to be his hobby why is that such a big deal
