4 on 4 off tramping.

Hi all. The title…is it a thing and are there any jobs going in lancs does anybody know?

Ive realised that if I can aqquire this kind of work it will let me go tramping while still seeing my family as much as possible. tbh I’d probably see my kids more than I do while working days.

Any help would be hugely appriciated!!

cheers CMG

  1. Yes it is a thing. I’ve done it as an employee and it worked well, I’ve also tried doing it with my own truck but the problem was that the other bloke decided that he didn’t want to work at weekends, the first time it was his turn to work one.

  2. Sorry, can’t help there, but hopefully somebody will be able to. Good luck, I loved doing 4 on 4 off.

Not Lancs area but try Southern Star Transport

Fowler Welch at Heywood certainly did 4 on 4 off last time I was there. Don’t know how obliging they are willing to be for your specific requirements though.
Hope you get what you want.

Nothing wrong me and I realize you have a problem with me from a few previous posts over the years but Harry mentioned his driver let him down when it came to working weekends so I made a joke about it.

4/4 “tramping” would only be away 2 nights at most hardly worth the bother, would have thought you would be better of 4/4 trunking or day work

I’d say 3 nights away at the most, worth it if he lives an hours drive away.

Suppose the hard bit would be going away with hardly any gear or having to take all your stuff out every 4 days ready for the next driver.

When I did it as an employee, I did four days and four nights out and the other driver would take it over on the morning of the fifth day and do the same. It worked well enough for us, although we had worked together at another firm beforehand so we knew we would be able to get on reasonably well. Because of this we had a lot of stuff in the cab which just stayed there, and essentially only took out clothing and bedding.

I’ve been doing 4 on 4 off out of Bradford for the last year. To be honest I feel like I’ve semi retired. 4 days on usually consist of 3x15 and an 11 or so on last day. I bill by the hour and usually have 56 or 57 hours in with 3 nights out. It keeps eanings up with time off to enjoy it.

Ws transport screaming for 4 on 4 off Runcorn and Watson steels Bolton area

Cheers tattoo. ill look into them. thanks mate
