My question is
The 144 hour rule or 6x24 hours periods (which ever floats you boat)
If you have a rest off of 24 hours for the 144 hour rule or 6x24 hour periods, but don’t want to count as a weekly rest, as you will be taking a full rest in 3 days time would you still get a fresh 3 reduced rests. 
or would that not count as a rest as it will not be used as a rest.

If the 24 hours off is not used as daily rest plus payback and is simply a daily rest extended to make a weekly rest then that will reset the 3 x reduced daily rest allowance
If that is an ‘extra’ weekly rest for that fixed week because another has already been assigned as the weekly rest for that fixed week then it still remains a weekly rest but does not require any payback
