No doubt there’ll be a whloe bunch of “my mate reckons…” misunderstandings flying around soon enough, but DVSA have given clarity on this:
From 1st January the 56 days record keeping requirement will apply to drivers going into Europe, but it won’t apply to journeys within the UK
asking here not telling… i did read an article that said uk coach drivers were exempt is this right?
Thing is i imagine it will only effect a few. if the tacho card is capable of holding the required number of days there is no issue. If it isnt then is this more well thought out plans from the eu
Looking at DVSAs wording, I suspect this does not affect coach drivers.
I’m not certain if we can rely on the card holding 56 days worth of data, technically it is capable of doing so, but the operator could easily supply drivers with tacho analysis sheets for that period, so it shouldn’t be a major issue, just one more bit of documentation to deal with for an international journey - which already has so many documentation requirements that adding one more is neither here nor there.
