If you go to the last page of the thread in that link it looks like that phpBB modification has long since been abandoned, either way I can assure you that mods on this board cannot read members PMs.
Well not unless the PM is sent to a mod anyway

I’ve never delved into how phpbb writes to the backend, but I’m just guessing any text content can be read from the database - assuming it’s not encrypted. I wouldn’t have thought such data would usually be available to mods.
Can’t imagine why anyone would want to send abusive PMs… I’d recommend copy & paste such into the public arena.
I do have more than 1 user name on here but that was for other reasons not for trolling although not used it in a long time
No mods can’t see any PM sent unless sent to them
Yes I did report a post due to language which I found offensive don’t mind some but other words I will not accept at any time
I have long since said that there are some mods that don’t post much on here now this may be due to a number of reasons & have said there should maybe be a review or bring in some new mods as in my opinion there should be at times due to life circumstances
