2 consecutive reduced weekly rests

Evening,

I’m sure this has been asked before in different ways but I can’t find the answer.

If working five days in a normal week, say roughly four and a half hours driving and four and a half hours other work each day, so 9 hours.

Is it possible to work 2 eight-hour Saturdays on the trot?

I think if working away from the UK in an EU country you can do this, but then have to pay the owed rest back or something?

But unless I am mistaken this is not possible if working in home country, the UK?

Just don’t really understand the three week payback time limit.

Thanks in advance.

If you’re working Monday to Sunday it is possible to have two consecutive reduced weekly rest periods at weekends but only if the circumstances are correct.

Honestly, unless there’s a good reason to have 2 consecutive reduced weekly rest periods it not worth it unless you really understand how it works.

Reduced weekly rest periods have to be compensated for by the end of the third week following the week in which the reduced weekly rest period was taken.
So if you have a 35 hour reduced weekly rest period you have to pay back 10 hours compensation, it can be added onto any rest period of 9 hours or more.

You could work every Saturday if you have 45 hours off before starting again on Monday morning.
It’s what a lot of builders merchants hiab drivers do . Mon to Fri plus every Saturday morning. Then have 45 hrs off and start again
