1st 45mins in a two hour POA

would it be correct to use the first 45 minutes in a 2 hour POA

scenario arrive at RDC at 0800hrs after 2 hour drive and then to be told you ain’t booked in until 1000hrs so I back up and select POA am I right in thinking that the first 45 minutes I can use as a rest period as this would enable me to have a new 4.5hrs drive time?

At 0800 it is up to you as to what mode(s) you use until 1000

If you got paid then most would forget POA and use break for the 2 hours

No that’s not correct, the first 45 minutes of POA count as break only when on a multi-manned journey.

When you’re on a single manned journey the only way to have a break is to put the tachograph on break mode.

This is the problem caused between salaried and waged drivers :exclamation:

“the first 45 minutes of POA count as break only when on a multi-manned journey.”

This was how I was understanding it although I did use the first 45 minutes on break mode then used the 1hr and 15mins on POA mode for WTD purpose.

Makes no difference for the RTD working time whether its break or POA as neither are counted for it

Cheers for clearing that up - rest mode it is from now on.

I may have misunderstood the question because you mentioned the first 45 minutes of a 2 hour POA, are you asking if you can book 45 minutes of waiting time as break ?

If that’s what you’re asking then yes, you can book break at any-time if you’re not working and are can spend the time recuperating.
